Vernon Wells Joins Safe Harbor Films

Safe Harbor Films, LLC, recently announced a new addition to its family — Vernon Wells has accepted a position as Producer. Wells’ responsibilities will include participation in business and financial matters, as well as contributing his talents in front of the camera.

“We’re very excited to have Vernon join the Safe Harbor Films family,” said Tony A. Angelo, President. “He has extensive experience in the entertainment industry, including TV and movies, doing voice-over work, and that is exactly where we are headed. Vernon’s industry expertise will help us continue along our path to realize the vision of Safe Harbor Films.”

Wells is from Victoria, Australia, currently living in California. He began his career in entertainment as a lead vocalist in the very successful Australian band Inkers Ink. He was then cast into a series of commercials, print ads, and local Australian TV shows, which began his acting career. Wells starred in two highly successful stage plays, The Birthday Party and Hossana. Hossana brought him to the attention of George Miller, director of The Road Warrior series. Wells’ big-screen break was being cast as Wez, in The Road Warrior in 1981, where he was a psychotic, post-apocalyptic gang leader pursuing hero Mel Gibson. (Wells later spoofed that same role in the teen comedy Weird Science in 1985.) Also in 1985, he played another villain, Bennett, who squared off against Arnold Schwarzenegger in Commando. Wells has played many villains on film, in addition to a variety of other roles in 250-plus projects. He entered into producing in the mid-1990s, and more recently took on responsibilities such as writing and directing for film and television.

“I haven’t been this excited about projects in a long time,” said Wells. “There are some very exciting things on the horizon, which I just had to be part of.”
